The DoD SkillBridge program provides internship opportunities for service members transitioning out of the military. RSDS Appraisal Diversity, a national real estate appraisal firm and leading provider of appraisal training and certification, proudly announces the extension of their partnership with the U.S Department of Defense Skillbridge Program.

After 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, Aircraft Technician D’Andre Smith was uncertain of his future outside of it.
“The ride was fun…I got to see a lot of countries and places I never considered. But now that I’m nearing 40, I kind of want to settle down a little bit.”
Settling down meant settling into a new career. Smith took advantage of the U.S. Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program, which connects military personnel with potential employers during their last 180 days of service. His search of the employer database led Smith to RSDS Appraisal Diversity, which secured a partnership with the DoD in August 2023.
“We were thrilled to welcome D’Andre” says RSDS VP Kharon Brown. “It’s our vision to open doors to underrepresented groups within the industry, and this includes service members. Now those service members connecting with us through SkillBridge are becoming invaluable additions to the RSDS team. We remain committed to this pathway into the industry and to our partnership with the DoD.”
EXTENDING PARTNERSHIP
Success stories like D’Andre’s have earned RSDS an extended partnership with the Department of Defense through September 2025. The connection has already allowed three more service members to follow Smith’s path. RSDS plans to further expand their capacity to 10 active DoD trainees in 2025. Assistant VP of Recruitment Amanda Love is elated. “With the extension of our SkillBridge partnership approved, we are able to offer practical experience to individuals who transition out of the service, allowing them to capitalize on their strong work ethic by developing the skills they’ll need in the civilian workforce to achieve success.”
Now nearly a year into his RSDS journey, Smith is grateful for the chance to apply his military discipline to the technical nature of appraising. The win-win partnership between the Department of Defense and RSDS means Smith is on his way to certification, and a successful career as a residential appraiser. “I’m still new here, but I have no complaints. They work hard and they mean business, and hopefully it all works out! “
