Making an impression
Julie Floyd remembers wondering about this new company called “RSDS Appraisal Diversity.”
Serving as the Vice Chairman of the Missouri Appraisers Commission several years ago, Julie noticed the name “RSDS” appearing on more and more applications from appraiser candidates. “And I thought, who are these people? They’re operating in Kansas City. I really want to know more about them. So we invited them to a board meeting to talk to us about their training methods.”
RSDS leaders gladly accepted the invitation, and their impression on Floyd was immediate. “We asked them some tough questions about how they trained, and how their supervisor/trainee model was different than the traditional model. I was impressed with their passion, their thoroughness, and I kept in touch with them over the years.”
“I WAS JUST BLOWN AWAY.”
That ongoing communication finally paid off, with Floyd joining the growing RSDS Appraisal Diversity team as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Drawing on her experience as a Regulator and Course Instructor for McKissock Learning, she’s eager to share her decades of expertise with training teams and help the company open doors to new appraisers. “I feel passionately about bringing in the new generation of appraisers. Not necessarily the young people…that’s a big part of it…but also people for whom this is a second career. Or they’ve just left the military, and they’re looking for a new field. I spoke to a group of trainees and appraisers here at RSDS, and I was just blown away by the enthusiasm and knowledge of these people who are new to the industry. They just wanted to learn.”
PERFECT FIT, PERFECT TIMING
RSDS President of Operations Dr. Randy Flowers says Floyd’s arrival comes as the company focuses on strengthening relationships between appraisers and the partners they serve. “Julie’s addition to RSDS will enhance training in RSDS Appraisal Diversity and help the company better support the industry, lenders, AMCs, and consumers. Her ability to recruit, train, educate, and develop appraisers will significantly impact the future generation. As VP of Regulatory Affairs, Julie will represent RSDS at industry and regulatory events, advocating for trainees within the industry.”
Floyd’s position on the leadership team will be instrumental during RSDS Appraisal Diversity’s accelerating growth, with RSDS Founder Rich Downs citing the balance between her extensive experience and the company’s aggressive goals. “Julie has been an education and regulatory vanguard in the appraisal industry her entire career. We are ecstatic to have her partner with RSDS Chief Appraiser Robbie Wilson to help build upon an already incredibly successful Appraiser Trainee program and ensure our Certified graduates achieve the industry’s best quality standards. This year, we will graduate our 100th appraiser trainee who will obtain their Certified Appraiser license. In 2025, we are committed to graduating an additional 100 trainees.”
WINNING AS A TEAM
Floyd echoes that enthusiasm, recognizing RSDS as a place of inclusion where hard work by a dedicated team pays off. “I love the culture here. You work hard…but you are well rewarded, and you are respected. It is energizing to me, and it also is motivating. I have a positive outlook for our future, and I see what these folks can do for our amazing profession that I love so much!”
